TikTok vs Instagram

What do you think, TikTok or Instagram is better for your marketing? Selecting the best platform completely depends on your marketing/ product type. TikTok and Instagram are the most popular platforms among businesses. But which one is better for your organization? Both these platforms have their own opportunities and obstacles. So, read this article to get an idea about what platform suits you!

Let’s start with……

TikTok vs Instagram – Variations

If you’re a huge brand with an established customer base, or a small business looking to find your place in the world, you’ve to know these variations of TikTok and Instagram. Then, you can find out the best platform that suits your brands.

Audiences

TikTok audience:

The biggest followership is Gen Z, followed by Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers in that order. Most of the TikTok users are womanish( 57% female users vs 43% male). TikTok is the most popular social media platform worldwide and it has 135 million daily active users in the USA.

Instagram audience:

Instagram is heavily favored by Millennials, but also by Gen Z users. Most Instagram users are male and the percentage is 51.6% – Male and 48.4% – Female. India reports wide Instagram following results with 230.25 million, the United States 159.75 million, and Brazil 119.45 million.

Content formats

TikTok content format:

TikTok allows users to create and upload vertical videos that are up to 15 sec to 10 minutes long. That’s it. Rather than scrolling, you swipe up to move to the coming videos. Because of this, users are more likely to pay attention to and watch the whole thing( and advertisements).

Instagram content format:

Instagram’s feed looks like the utmost social media platform, with endless scrolling. It’s easy to go from one post to the coming without fastening on any of them. The content formats that work stylish for advertisements are Reels – Instagram’s answer to TikTok – and Stories.

Content types

TikTok content types:

The videos posted on TikTok tend to be much more raw and unedited. TikTok users can try various filters, but many times people will shoot a quick video and upload it instantly. When you visit their profile runner, it’s hard to pick up a sense of their general aesthetic. With TikTok, creators film themselves doing dances, lip-syncing, performing challenges, and more. It doesn’t nearly as much as what’s happening but the look and feel of the videos matter.

Instagram content types:

Instagram content is highly edited with various filters and effects. The focus tends to be just as important on the look and sense of content as it is on the subject matter itself, with Instagram.

Advertising

TikTok advertising:

TikTok allows brands to film video ads for up to 60 seconds. They can be seen by the target followership in between other vids, and look nearly identical to organic TikTok posts.

Instagram advertising:

Interestingly, when Instagram reels were compared to TikTok ads, Reels outperformed TikTok by quite a little. The reach was significantly greater, CPC was lower, and CPM was lower (stats).

Organic content

TikTok:

Further than half of users are under the age of 24, and they love organic content. The TikTok algorithm also rewards users who produce a significant quantity of content. The users who produce a significant amount of content, through the TikTok algorithm are also rewarded.

Instagram:

If you create less content but make it exceptionally high-quality, the Instagram algorithm rewards users. If you want to focus less on quantity and more on quality, Instagram may be the way to go for you. This is a great achievement for B2B brands, busy marketers, etc.

Influencer partnerships

TikTok:

TikTok is a better place if you want to sponsor content that is more raw and potentially authentic. For creating brand challenges, TikTok is also particularly good. You can connect with a wide audience if you can develop a creative, engaging challenge for users around your brand.

Instagram:

Instagram may be the best choice for you if your brand has a particularly polished aesthetic.

Unleash the power of TikTok for marketing

Both Instagram and TikTok platforms are their own gains and losses. However, my personal opinion is that TikTok will be the most famous and effective social media platform than Instagram in 2023. Despite TikTok being a relatively new platform, the core concept of TikTok is sharing short videos. In this year, TikTok decided to widen its video time limit to 15 sec to 3 min. To connect with and captivate their desired audience, TikTok’s distinctive format and captivating content make it an influential instrument for businesses.

Additionally, TikTok has a high engagement rate. As we know, TikTok has a high engagement rate, which means businesses easily can create more meaningful connections with an expanded audience on TikTok. So, this will be a great platform for increasing your marketing strategy!

Limitations of using social media marketing platforms

Although social media marketing platforms provide more opportunities to expose your brands to a wide audience, it has some challenges.

Here are some of the challenges of using social media marketing platforms:

  1. Social media platforms are built to connect with people not for business

The social media marketing platforms were not built for business, but for connecting with more people and the world.

  1. High-cost

You have to pay more cost to create and run marketing ads on social media platforms. If you target a wide audience, the ad costs also increase.

  1. Time-consuming

A lot of time is required to run social media marketing ads. You have to stay active and engage potential customers constantly.

  1. Needed technical expertise

If you don’t have better technical experience, it may be a challenge for you to market on social media marketing platforms.

Wrapping up the article

Both Instagram and TikTok platforms provide unique marketing opportunities for businesses. Keep in mind that it is important to understand the differences between the two platforms so that you can make an informed decision about which one is right for you.
