How does this TikTok platform work?

TikTok provides a platform to film videos with lip-syncing, dancing, singing, or acting. The video time limit is up to 15 seconds long, but users can also connect multiple clips for up to 60 seconds of total recording. Also, it has video editing and customization tools and you have access to a library of songs, effects, filters, and sound bites to add to your videos. 

Also, you can duet with another user’s videos. Further, users can create a video responding to a specific comment. So, the comment will be highlighted as an overlay in your video.

Navigating TikTok

Here is a short guide about how to navigate TikTok. You’ll see a menu bar at the bottom when you open TikTok. TikTok has shortcuts to the following pages of the app:

• Home: You will see two feeds  called Following and For You and these two you can toggle between
• Discover: Mostly you can see your TikTok videos tagged with a trending hashtag
• Create a video: Opens up to the record screen, where you can film a video
• Inbox: Shows you all the activity on your videos
• Profile: You and others can see your profile. If you want to keep it private, you can make parts of it private

Watching TikTok video

In a nutshell, TikTok videos appear vertically on your screen like Instagram or Vine. It allows you to engage with them using “hearts”, which are the same as “likes.” After you download the TikTok app and open it, you’ll immediately see curated featured videos on the “for you” page. You can switch to the “following” page to see your follower’s videos whether they can be friends or popular TikTokkers.

You’ll see the user’s name, caption, hashtags, and the name of the song that’s playing at the bottom of the video. Top these to see related videos. Also, you can try clicking Discover to search for videos by keywords and hashtags. And, that’s enough! 

Creating TikTok video

Click on the Create video button (plus sign) at the bottom of the home screen and press the record button, if you’re ready to start creating and posting your own video. While that sounds easy, it is not a pretty simple process. Also, you can add your favorite songs, stickers, filters, and more functions to your videos. 

You can even save a video as a draft to post it later or you can post it to see everyone. Simply, click the “Create Video” button, and then, finish recording and editing your video, tap Next. Click  Drafts, from the video posting page.
